The flight of the Condor is one of the newest tourist circuit in Cusco, located in the community of Chonta. This tour is highly recommended for the people how want to see and know something different to the conventional tours offered in Cusco city, This tour is for everybody who want to know more about the Inca culture and for the birds watching and nature lover’s, beautiful landscapes, snowcapped mountains and the great Apurimac canyon and finally you will see the majestic flight of the Andean condor in its natural habitat, the Condor is second largest bird of the world and they were considered one of the most important sacred while life for our ancestors continues to be sacred and important today.

We will leave the city of Cusco at 8:00 am, taking the Pan American highway from Cusco until Limatambo. Then by unpaved route until Chonta community 3,400 meter sea level. On the way to Apurimac Canyon (Condor View point) we will stop in two important and interesting Incan archaeological sites of Killarumiyoc and Tarawasi. Those archaeological sites are completely different to the other Inca ruins in Cusco or sacred valley.

QUILLARUMIYOC – TEMPLE OF THE MOON was a temple of the fertility where the Incas performed important ceremonies for the girls in their first menstruations and eventually for the Mother earth looking for a good fertile period of the ground and eventually good production.

TARAWASI – Is an important ritual and ceremonial site of the Incas where they worship to sun god and to pachamama (mother earth) and also shows perfect construction, with trapezoidal niches and polygonal walls, where you can see an amazing architecture from the years of 1440AD.

After we visit those Inca remains we will continue in our private transport until Chonta village, from where we will begin to walk until the condor viewpoint. This hiking will be for 1 hour approximately 3 km to get to the view point, on the way we stop for our delicious picnic lunch surrounded by spectacular landscape.
The viewpoint of the condor is located on the right side of the Apurimac River Canyon at about 3300 meters of elevation, from where we will see the deepest canyon of South America and the home of the Andean Condor. Here you will appreciate the majestic gliding of the Andean condor, considered Sacred Bird of the Incas.
After having witnessed the condor flight we will return walk back until Chonta village then by our transport back to Cusco city, arriving to your hotel more less 6 pm, the trip comes to an and.
